Does anybody experience this with their turtles? I have it in a community with some big cichlids and it seems slow to go at foods. It kinds of stares at it for about 10-15 minutes before it nibbles a bit, wait few more minutes, and nibble again.

I feed it about twice daily but it really does not seem to eat that much. I hope they are not big eaters because I am getting a bit worried. He has always been like this though and he does not appear underweight. I am just worried that it is not getting enough nutrition as he does not eat much pellets or veggies these days. Mostly he steals a piece of fish meat meant for the gars that sink down, and now he doesn't like his veggies as much, even when he doesnt get fed meat for a few days. Any tips? Also, it likes fruits like apples and pears and thats about it(it prob makes up 50%-70% of his diet). Should I be worried? He really does not seem all hyped up about other foods and seeing he does not eat pellets at the surface anymore his diet might be nutritionally lacking

I feed my frt Rep-Cal Bearded dragon food (large size), thats been his staple for the past 2 years. He eats all the pellets that I put in about 10-15 pieces daily, pretty fast nothing wasted.

do they float or sink ???

They float. I used to feed my frt hikari wafers but they're pretty expensive, I bought a 5 lb bag (white bag) of rep cal bearded dragon food at a reptile show for 17 dollars, entire bag lasted nearly a year (just ran out today), they come in smaller cans if you want to try a small sample to see if your frt will eat them. Mine loves them.

How big and how old is your frt?

My frt is a slow eater as well but you can tell she gets excited. It just takes her awhile to actually find it. She seems to locate the food using her snout through touching or "smelling" for it. She mainly eats algea wafers.

If her diet has changed I would question what caused it. If she has always eaten the same and seems healthy I wouldnt worry. One thing to be aware of is a high protein diet with your frt. Its been suggested that this can cause shell curl.

Are there any signs of shell curl?

When in doubt take your frt to a vet!:)
