I've had several Marineland HOT Mags over the years, but I've never experienced the problem that I'm currently having. The filter is about a 10 months old, and it's flowing a lot less water that it should be. I've replaced all the seals, and it doesn't have any leaks. If I set it up side by side with one of my other HOT Mags, it looks like it is pushing about half as much water. Any suggestions? I submitted this question to Marineland over a week ago and haven't heard a peep from them. I'm starting to get frustrated. I wanted this to go on my old 55gal to supplement it's filtration.

Check to see that there is no obstruction in the hoses. Clean out the filter media. If you have two identical filters, try swapping out the impellers. Hope this helps.

Silly question but when was the last time you changed the sponge sleeve? Do you use it? If you do not they will clog and impead flow.

I've tried it every way possible. The first thing i did was put a new sleeve on it. I tried running it with no media, with the polishing insert, I even tried it with no media and no sleeve, and it's still slow.
The impeller is fine, and the hoses are clean. It really has me stumped.
I'm drying it out, i'm going to do a vinegar bath, and then try to run it again to see if that helps.

Just to be clear, this is the Hang On Tank Magnum (hoses, quick disconnects, ect. don't apply). I have not tried swapping the impellers yet, but I have dismantled the impeller assembly on the slow unit and there is nothing visibly wrong with it.
