So I finally just "finished" my "big" tank (I thought it was big, now after seeing everyone elses on here it's just a measly 55g :(.)

I have another 20 with a pair of convicts. My "big" tank has a breeding pair of OB Peacocks, a Blue OB Peacock, a breeding pair of Taiwan Reefs, breeding pair of yellow labs, and a breeding pair of Electric Blue Ahlis.

I work in a fish store, so I get most of this stuff all discounted. My 20 I actually picked up from a friend.

I'm worried that my hydro is going to go up a lot, but I really want a "monster" tank. I'm thinking like, a 120-235gal for some oscars, dempseys, and cats. But again, I'm just worried about my hydro. I've heard horror stories of like, $500+ a month.

Should I be worried?

If you change 50% of your water a week, with 190 gallons, that's 360 gallons a month. I doubt it will impact your water bill noticeably.

Nice 1, you got to start somewhere, and just upgrade from there. i guess its just all about how many times you upgrade.

As far as the water bill, I got a flat rate every month and at the end of the year I get the bill, if I owe money I pay and I can get a refund if I over paid.

I just upgraded this year, So I'm screwed my wife is gonna kick my ass when the bill comes in I know it :)

I'm just going to have to give her some extra money and be like " Hey shut up this is my hobby, go shopping or something"

I'd get the biggest possible tank ASAP, anything even if it's just a 125 (which is the biggest tank I have at the moment), because you're stocklist options expand more than a 55

Lol I wouldn't be worried about the waterbill. Think about how much just the shower uses every day.

I reckon you gotta worry more about the powerbill than water.

Unless water over in BC is sky high, then I would say you are correct, pumps, lights, heaters will definitely run up your power bill!

Yeah dont worry, bigger is better! Let us know!
