Slugs for catfish

In the past ive fed slugs to big cats with various success (perruno loved them). Im in UK where we have loads of the big black ones with red "frills" on the "skirt", now i have never fed these to fish as i was led to believe they are toxic to birds-however i cant find anything to back this up also there is a lot of talk at the moment of slugs carrying worms that can be fatal to pets-obviously lungworm is unlikely to be an issue but there is a "brain worm" apparently.
can anyone educate me on this?

I know that they can be deadly to dogs it can cause all sorts of problems worms , gastric probs etc, ive never tried feeding them to my fish from what I can remember , I usually stick to earth worms if anything out the compost heap , wouldn't mind knowing if they are harmful to fish though coz we've got bloody loads in the UK and I can't see what other use they could be
