State of chaos
Some of you guys may remember that I collected a few Slugs from my yard a month ago and put them in a plastic tank with a snap-on lid. Well, my Dad found a live Slug crawling on one of my tanks, and I later discovered a dried up object which might be a dead Slug not far from there. The tank has been moved, but considering that the 2 fugitaves were found less that a foot from my bed has left me with a case of the willies to deal with tonight. I was wondering if, if I dug a hole through the snow, and into the soil in my yard and dumped them in it, would they survive? Not to sound PETA about worrying about the survival of Slugs, but I really feel that they are my resposibility since I consiously took them in. I considered putting them in a sealed water bottle with a plant but unfortunately I don't see how I could remove the slugs without making a mess and getting the mites from the moss everywhere. Anyone?

lol why did you collect slugs in the first place?
In the spring you are welcome to collect the ones in my yard before they attack my Hostas. You are not allowed to return the slugs after you have taken them from the wild,I just know there is a law or a ruling on that somewhere.:irked:

I think releasing a slug you've collected from your backyard .... back to your backyard is more than ok, let's not get too crazy, with that thinking any animal to happens to wander in your yard should not be allowed to leave it because they may have picked something up from within the confines of your fence.

They hiberante in top soil so you should be fine, whether or not they will survive the temp jump from being in your house to suddenly being outside (?). Maybe leave them in a container of warmer topsoil outside, let them cool down at a slower rate.

It's a slug, not a snakehead, I don't think it's a crime to release it.

LOL,calm down bro.I was only joking, plus a snakehead would have bit him being the vicious creatures that they are.

i say salt them...
I tried feeding them to my oscars and as greedy as they were they spit them out.

ewwwwwwwww anthony, you're so gross!!!! my friend poured salt on a slug once...i felt a little sorry for it..that must have been agony for it because it was fizzing up and stuff...looked very painful...i say just get it and put it in the garden - im sure they'll go somewhere safe. and you're really disgusting by the way for taking slugs :D
