Worm farms are great for redworms and brandlings which are relatively small compared to the lobworms that my gourami goes crazy about. Lobworms don't seem to be attracted to my composting heap, they're more of a deep soil worm so you have to put a bit more work into collecting them, although they do come to the surface on mild dark nights.

Try African nightcrawlers, they can be raised as compost worms

A simple kiddy pool with a cheap canister filter and elodea can attract aquatic insect larvae that are the backbone in most food chains, just place it in yor yard,u can also add microcrabs ,fairy shrimp and triops

There are some rather large earth worm species,if u can grow one to twenty feet u could be set all year.

I even have a few container plants in 5g pots and I scoop out the casting and quite a few living compost worms and mix in with soil. The worms actually seem to live just fine and reproduce. It makes for a constant supply of castings
