My RTGG goes mad for the fattest longest earthworms i can find in the garden. There's also a copious amount of slugs to hand but i haven't tried her on these yet. It's the slime that's putting me off, they're way slimier than worms. Will the slime be digested as a nutrient rich food source or will it get "evacuated" shall we say as a waste product thus creating havoc with the whole filtration system and general cosmetic look of the tank?

Most fish won't eat slugs.
Mine sure wouldn't.I had an Oscar years ago that did take one in it's mouth and it spit it back out within seconds.

I think u should start worm farm in your garden, take a big container and add compost(leaves vegetable bits etc)

Worm farms are great for redworms and brandlings which are relatively small compared to the lobworms that my gourami goes crazy about. Lobworms don't seem to be attracted to my composting heap, they're more of a deep soil worm so you have to put a bit more work into collecting them, although they do come to the surface on mild dark nights.
