Sent Dr Novak an email asking if I could simply put the litter in a media bag directly in my tank to realize some nitrate reduction and he said yes. I will be using fluorite as my source of iron. Also use ~4 inches of gravel so will infuse some fluorite there as well. Will report back in 60 days if I see any significant delta in nitrates. Currently do weekly water changes with nitrates at 40ppm before change. If the results are good might make a simple over head sump. Would love to hear others experience with anoxic filters.
