Why is it so hard to keep smaller baby catfish in an aquarium. But as soon as they get a certain size they are alot more tolerant. It cant be water quality cause my other fish are thriving. I have lost alot of small baby catfish laltley and dont know why. They will be perfectly healthy and eating whatever one sec. They next they go down hill and eventually die. Need some advice.

Are you comparing baby catfish to baby non-catfish or to non-baby non-catfish thriving in your tanks? Most animals when newborn are vulnerable.

Perhaps your tiny catfish are bothered / attacked by big tank mates and it doesn't take much for a large fish to damage or merely constantly stress a tiny fish, even if it isn't the purpose of the large fish.

IDK what else to tell you other than I have not experienced this... taken at the pretty vague and pretty generalized face value.

vincentwugwg vincentwugwg has reported a bug in his system that has wiped out a lot of South American catfish in his tanks. He thought the bug arrived with Boesemani rays, IIRC. Maybe he can elaborate and offer help?

Its catfish to other fish. The other fish are thriving non catfish and seems like it is just baby catfish. There not being picked on as far as what I can see it's just one min. Doing great and the next days they die. And this is weeks and months after I get them. Just at a loss
