my channel cat i bought is around 3.5 inches, i had 2 clown loaches in there one about 2 inches and one about 1 inch. i can't find the 2 inch loach and my channel cats stomach looks super fat. is it possible that he ate it? i've seen him yawn before and his mouth doesnt look THAT big

i wouldnt think it could happen based on the facts of the cats size and they arent really known for having big mouths, but i guess if hes fat and the other fish is gone. that would be my guess

It Can happen. I lost my cl to a pike. Pissed me off.

Loaches can hide in the most unbelievalble spots. Have you checked all cracks and crevices in the tank (don't know how much decor is in there)?

If you haven't fed your catfish anything out of the ordinary then based upon you description, I would guess that he ate the loach. Hope it didn't.

i found him haha, he hides in this castle thats like a square inch window on it and the castle is all hollow so the 2 loaches hide in there and the one just didnt come out that day. also does anyone here know the growth rate of a channel cat?

Good news. I was hoping that the loach was hiding. This isn't the first story I've heard of a loach disapearing only to show up later.

I would assume that Channel Cat's have a decent rate of growth. I'd watch the channel/loach combo for size differences.

But how long you keeping them together? the channel will rapidly outgrow the clown and the channel needs cold water and get to 4ft+ while the clowns get to 1' but take a long time to get to that size and need tropical waters.
