So work is really pushing for me to set up a tank. I am bringing in my 46g bow. I plan on doing three dojo loaches, one or two schools of a larger tetra or barb and would like a group of small cichlids or a solo cichlid in the tank with the other fish. To add some flare and personality. Not looking for anything fancy or hard to find. I was thinking red jewels. They are pretty and kind of fun. Looking for suggestions. Don't want to do angels. Nothing that will out grow the tank (other then the dojos). thanks for the input

I like the firemouth pair idea! With some swordtails too! Nutty, a member here has an awesome natural looking setup of these. I'll try and find the thread.

Herotilapia multispinosa

I've seen a few of these at local shops recently and they look cool. I think they don't typically grow > 5 or 6" so they should be ok in your tank.

Another great idea. Nutty did one of those too;)

Wont firemouths eat the tetras?
I'm really curious for sure I'm getting some if they don't.

Did you check the video out? Nutty did it but im sure it could happen:)

It's pretty obvious that I'm a fan of his work:ROFL:

what about some small Tanganyikans, like a colony of shelldwellers...very interesting behaviorally and genuinely fun to watch
