Hi I am wondering if Antony knows of a pleco that can live in a ten gallon tank that does not have a heater. The fish that are in the tank are 2 black skirt tetras. I need the pleco due to algae problems. Thank you

best bet is otocinclus i know that i spelled that wrong but im pretty sure they need a heater. try a magnet.. unless its a fluval edge because i have one of those and i hate trying to clean the algae off it.

Before you get a fish to take care of algae problems, try reducing the amount of light that gets in the tank. Don't keep the overhead light on for more that 5 hours. Be sure that no direct sunlight is hitting the tank (this is usually what does it).

There's not really any Pleco I can think of that would work in that small of a tank without a heater. I think scrubbing the walls may be your best bet.

I keep Ancistrus in a 30 gal tank without a heater, temps range from low 70s in summer, to mid to low 60s winter.
There are many of these bristlenose pleco species that live in the Uruguay, Southern Brazil, Argentina area that can take the low temps. They stay smaller than the normal common plecos, and thus can stay in a smaller space.
Below is the cooler tank, it also houses Gymnogeophagus, and Xenotoca eiseni.
