Is it possible to do two checkboard discus in a 30 gallon? If not what is the minimum size I need. Right now I have two convicts and I am just looking for something new.

Yes, I think two in a 30 would be ok as long as it's well filtered and do do frequent water changes. You're not going to keep them with Cons?

You could keep about 4 in that size tank for a good while. If they are babies, do water changes about every other day to keep their water pristin. As long as those convicts are out of the tank...The more you get the better. My two babies, didn't do well until they got 3 more tank mates. Then they all would come out more often.

You may have aggression issues with just two.

I would get more than two and keeo them in a larger tank

If they are not a mated pair, one is most likely going to bully the other until it's stressed and gets sick or dies. Discus form hierarchies. In order to spread the aggression around and keep one fish from taking all the beatings, it's usually best to have a minimum of 4. Six in a 55 gallon is the recommended setup among most discus hobbyists.
