Well, I went and checked out that 5'x3'x16" acrylic tank I wanted, but it was scratched like crazy. Didn't really feel like trying or paying to buff it out.

So I was thinking about doing this myself. Maybe a 5x3, 5x4, or 6x3 or 6x4, with most likely 18 inches in height for glass sizing reasons.

So with plywood tanks, essentially you make your outer box with 3/4" or 1" plywood. That part I get. But as far as pricing the piece of glass I need, plus this liquid rubber stuff I have no experience with, I'm a little lost. I would need holes with bulkheads in the tank for filtration obviously.

I guess I just need a little knowledge on how exactly to seat the glass in the wood, or where to get it, or how much the glass and liquid rubber actually cost and how much I'd need.

Anybody care to start this ball rolling? I'd really appreciate it. So far the past 2 tanks I've liked haven't worked out. I like my pond, but I just want something with a viewing window, and smaller so I can heat it and keep tropicals.

Thanks!

Check out the do it yourself forum. There are plenty of stickies that cover tank building.

No doubt some good info, I just don't know where to start with mine. Where should I get the liquid rubber? Where can I get cheap glass and what kind do I get?
