this is the 2 60gallon tanks i built to try to decide what i wanted to build my big tank out of.. i had 3 different fails before i found out what i wanted to use on the big tank... i only am uploading the pictures of what worked.
the left side is ready for glass and did hold water before i broke it by pulling my truck into the garage a little too far one EARLY morning haha. anyways the left side is sealed with herculiner witch worked great but IMO is more expensive and pretty much the same rubber based stuff as the zavlar i wouldnt use it again. the right side is sealed with 5 coats of zavlar. i only did 5 coats because i wanted to test how well it still holds in thin spots for just incase reasons on the big tank.. if you can tell from the pictures the glass gets squeezes by 2 pieces of wood on each side so all i had to do was make a gasket out of the paintable silicone then after it dried i painted the LR over the silicone.
things that i had fail was the pond liner witch worked great but i coulnt ever get a great seal from the glass to the liner. i also tried to cut the pond liner individually on each wall and glue it together using showerpan glue that leaked all over.. i know ppl have gotten both these ways to work but its something that i just couldnt do right. another thing that failed terribly was i got some spray on truck bed liner DO NOT try this. it didnt even have a chance of working even thought the idea says it COULD work it doesnt. i learned alot from building this. but the best thing i learned i can give advice to someone new who is thinking of building a tank is pick a very detailed build that worked and stick to it.. there is a reason almost everyone is using fiberglass, epoyx, LR ect. and that is because they work. and work well and theres no reason to improve on something that isnt broken lol... thanks for lookin and thanks for all the help everyone gave while i was trying to decide what i wanted to build
