Who hunts small game?

I have had handguns for jobs/ target shooting for years, but I just got a Savage Mark II .22 rifle with a scope. I know it is dinky, but it is my first rifle and I am having a great time with it. I have it sighted in and am ready to get my hunter safety liscence and go after some small game (even though I pretty much just missed the season).

Anyways, who is into this? What gun do you use? What small game animals do you hunt? Why do you hunt them? For food? If so, what skinning/cleaning techniques/ recipes/ etc??

I haven't gone hunting in a few years. Been too damn busy. :(

Anyways I use a Marlin Model 60SS .22 to shoot Groundhogs on my parents farm. Sometimes I use my Mini 14 for longer shots. I use a 20 and a 12 ga. for hunting pheasants. Oh yeah, and I use break action pellet gun to shoot squirrels.

Grouse, squirrels, ducks.
.22 for squirrels and 12 guage for the others.

we hunt rabbit, dove, quail soon(they are getting there!), squirrel. all for eating we all shoot shotguns tho. 12, 16, 20 gauges all with lite shot

as far as skinning and cleaning the first step is find somewhere to do it. you need water and the area needs to be clean. tailgates work great if covered with cling wrap and you brought water

What kind of scope do you have on there? I thinking about picking up my first .22 rifle this year.
