So just curious I have a 7x2x2 220gal and I'm wondering how well/long a smaller species of gar like a Florida or spotted (if I can find them) would do in there, there are plans to upgrade to a 5-800 gallon in the future but that wouldn't be for quite a few years (3-5).

Had one a few years back in a 180gal. The gar wasn't growing fast. Unfortunately it jumped out and died later. Make sure lids are secured.

Lids would definitely be tight and secure, as I have already lost a fish from jumping so I’ve been very strict and updated most of my lids on all my tanks recently.
