I got 1, 2" jag yesterday and went back to the same place and got two more today and already I notice odd behavior between two of them. I dont know how to really explain it. One grabbed the others jaw and pulled it out of the hole of driftwood they are in. Then they kept taking turns getting in front of each other and "backing " the other out of it, all while gills flared, but nothing really violent. There is plenty of room for them to hide. My question is, is it just territorial, or could they have paired off at this age?

jags are awsome. i dont know what urs are doing though. can u sex them yet

is it possible at that size? I do notice that one is a lighter color but originally thought it might be that they are new and havent colored up fully yet.

i would say that is territorial/aggressive behavior not spawning behavior especiallt at that size i dont think they would be pairing up -- everything you described is usually classic signs of territorial behavior

No, not at that age you can not sex them becuase they are still in their juvie colors. Once they are older the female will still have strips while the males strips fade and turn into spots. And I can almost positivly tell you that it is because of territory. What size tank do you have them in?
