Anyone know what kind of fish these are? They are marine fish caught on the south shore of Long Island, NY.

Thanks . These were in a Chinese take out place and the women told me that her husband caught them in a river. I asked if they were saltwater and she told me yes. The whole saltwater river thing threw me off and I thought it was a language barrier. Now it makes a little more sense.

Hard to tell from your photos, but they look like either banded killifish or mummichogs. Up here, the killifish live in fresh or brackish environments. They don't like straight seawater. The mummichogs, however, can live anywhere.

It's a Fundulus species. I thought I saw a striped killifish in one of these pictures but I could be wrong. Looks like banded killifish or mummichogs.
