An island somewhere......
I had originally planned on separating a side of my brothers koi pond for a larger Midas but I don't think he'll be up for that. What I am considering is perhaps throwing a smaller Midas of about 4"-5" into the pond and seeing if he could co-exist with 14"-20" Koi's. Koi's are very powerful so I think they can put the Midas in check really quick if need be..... do you think he would reek havic when he gets some size or will he learn to live with the larger Kois?

He'll be cool in there until the winter hits. As far as aggression goes he wouldn't try it because theres so much space. Even as an older adult i don't think he'd be up for more than a chase.

Thanks WildCaught..... I'm not so worried about the water temperature since it'll just be for the summer. More worried about aggression and or afflicting wounds on the Koi's. Also wondering how fast he will grow in that much water. Probably a 5,000 gallon pond! 20'x10'!

Its not the amount of water but the quality, but of course with such a large amount of water its easier to keep chemistry almost perfect, so chances are you will see very good growth rate out of the guy as long as the other parts of the growth equation are good (diet + genetics + water chemistry = growth rate)

How are you going to catch him when you need to? Sounds like it would be a lot of fun...

Good Question! Probably trap him/them in a corner with a make shift divder/net!

Oh by the way........ Mission accomplished! I threw 2 smaller white midas into the pond... one has literally an orange dot on his head. Cross your fingers!

Keep updates on growth rate and coloring.

intresting take pics and try to feed them in the same place so catching them is easier .
