One of my friends is wanting to get rid of his smb and offered it to me. I think I might take it I just want to make sure I have enough tank space. I have a 150 gallon tank that is 72" long x 18" wide x 29" tall. Would this tank be big enough for it for life? I really want this fish but I wanted to make sure I could keep it befor I got it.

A smallmouth will get larger than 18", but it will take awhile.

No help on the SMB, but you don't see many posts like these. (responsible before the fact)

I read sandtiger's profile on smb and it says that thay rarely reach 20".

Yeah, you can probably house it in that tank for life, but SMB can get bigger than that.

obviously depends on how much you are feeding the
i had a smallmouth years ago in my 200g after 3 years it was still around 14 inches

yes is the thank empty now???

Well, Right now the tank is filled up with shiners, bluntnose minnows, brook silversides, johnny darters, log perch, a white sucker, a big common black pleco, and I think that's it. So no bass for the tank right now. Maybe next spring I'll get a bass.
