Hey everyone i just was wondering if anyone has ever seen this type of bump on your cichlids before, it kind of looks like a small pimple at the top of its head. It showed up a few days ago on my EBJD and I'm worried it may be something harmful to my fish or that it may even spread to my other EBJD. I'm currently treating my tank water for external fish diseases. The little guy will still eat at feeding time and his behavior hasn't changed much. Any help would be appreciated

Can you give water perameters? Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH. Have you added anything new to the tank recently? What is you set up like, filtration, tank size, stocking, WC schedual & %, filter maint etc.? The more info you can provide the better the chance of giving an educated suggestion of what you may be dealing with.

Ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 20ppm , PH 7.2 The tank has been set up for 5 months now it is a 38 gallon it has 2. EBJD's, 1. Bristle nose pleco, 1. clown loach, and 1. 8" fire eel . The filter is an Aqueon Quiet Flow 30 and i just cleaned the filter cartage a week ago, I do weekly water changes of about 25%, and 50% monthly as well as cleaning the gravel at that time. I also have a whisper model 20 air pump always going. The only new things i have added to the tank recently are the weekly treat of live black worms that i feed my EBJD's and the Herbal External disease formula that i have been adding ever since seeing the bump. I clean the black worms about 30 times after getting them making sure to get out any leaches and extra bits so i'm not sure if these are the problem. The bump has only appeared on the bigger of my two JD's, and the bump has seemed to steadily be getting bigger and it almost seems white or filled with something inside. Thanks again for the Help! -Sean

Thanks for providing good info.

It looks like Anchor worm from your discription and what I can see in the picture. If you start to see a small protrusion starting you appear from the center of the pimple. Do a a 50% water change and treat with API General Cure. Follow the directions on the package. You can also add 1 tablespoon of salt per 5 gallons of water. Please reprot any changes in condition. I would lay off the black worms for a while and stick to feeding a high quality pallet.

Doing a water change and adding some aquarium salt to the tank today, ill head to the store first thing in the morning to grab API General Cure. Thanks again for responding! ill keep you posted!

When I got home with the API general cure today my EBJDs bump seems to have either shrunk or he scratched it off, either way its just a small white spot now. I made sure to add the cure as instructed, thanks again for the advise ill keep you posted!

I know you said stay clear of the black worms for a while, would it be alright to feed them bloodworms and garden worms instead? i just like to have some meat in their diet
