Is Danish oil going to give you the protection you need? I often use a mix of 1/3 oil, 1/3 spar varnish and 1/2 turpentine to enhance the water resistance of the oil finish. I usually use tung oil or boiled linseed oil... which are usually the base in most Danish oils. The turpentine is just a thinner that will evaporate away. The spar varnish is what gives the finish the extra protection properties.

I can see that you know and like your wood work! Some great tips. I've been very impressed with the protection of Danish oil in the past, I have it on my dining room table and have no wear or water marks still. Although 3 good coats on a well prepared surface is essential.
