Small one with a big one?

Would it be a good idea if I add a small 5" female ray along with a 12" Male ray?

I have done somthing similar recently, ive got a very mature 12" disc marble and i recently added a 7-8" Disc female my first thoughts were that i was worried he may get a bit rough and try to breed but (touch wood) things have been fine, but with yours being 5" disc i would worry that it might be a bit too small. lets see what other members think

I would not try it he will try and mate her if hes mature . I think u been lucky so far bruce

i dont think he will try and mate with her until she gets closer to breeding age (10in) I would be more worried about him beating her up for food

Don't do it ! My big ones killed smaller ray when they were "fighting" for food. Too much of a difference and I would be more worried because the female is the smaller one.

thanks for that advice. I really cant afford to lose an expensive fish. I guess Im going to grow the female out a bit.
