What are peoples experiences with putting small juvinile rays in with semi adults.I have two rays that are about 11 inchis in diameter and i am getting a new 4 inch or so pup friday and really would like to add to main tank instead of another area.

I wouldn't put 4" pups with 11" rays. To apt to stress the pups. It can be hard as it is to get pups eating well and growing without extra stress.

I dont have any personal experience. However, I see pics of small rays with tails bit off or chunks out of there disk and Its almost always because they we in a tank with larger more aggressive rays!

Don't do it. 4" fragile. Need to be target fed multiple times per day with total food intake monitored. Will get out competed.

Then the fact it might get killed or mamed as the other folks here mentioned.

once 7" may be possible. use a divider or build a floating crib with a clear rubbermaid container, zip ties, and pvc pipe with caps. Drill the container good for flow. Chuck an airstone in call it good. I've keep pups like this for months. 7 months in a crunch once. There's one of these in almost all of my ponds. Extra capacity i love it.

Separate the 4" until feeding well then can introduce at your own risk. Personally I have never added any small ray to larger rays until the smallest is at least 8" diameter

yeah i am encountering this same dilemma, getting one from the same litter, tank has one 8.5/9" marble in there now. have a divider up now, but not sure how long to keep them separated. planning on waiting until the pup is eating enthusiastically and then maybe a trial run without divider and going from there. seem reasonable?

I did this and was fine.

However as someone above mentioned, first put in separated with divider for few weeks until feeding ferociously and get them up a bit in size.

I had 5/6 in pups with 11in rays and was fine. Just keep an eye to make sure none of the bigger ones bully's it and that it is getting enough food at feeding time.
