Cleaning out my filter I found 1/4" long and smaller red worms in my filter media floss and sponges... what are these? I haven't seen them any where in my tank only the filter. I have a 60x18x18 tank with sand bottom and Rena xp4 filter. stock list 2 river cooter turtles, 2 crawfish my kids rescued from the pot on mothers day, 60 grass or ghost shrimp caught from local bayou" five sun perch all 1" and 3 bass 1", 2 blue catfish all of this comes from bayou by house..

It is all wild caught asside from the cooters... now store bought fish turned into crawfish poop.. I have been having my tank set up for 6 months before the bayou fish were introduced and they were all put in quarantine tank for a week before entering my big tank. I cleaned the filter over the weekend and was kinda freaked out by it I was boiling some drift wood so I boiled the media and scrapped all the floss and sponges. . Didnt take pics

it's probably mosquito larvae, I have them in certain tanks outside occasionally when the water flow is a little slow. my fish actually pick at them and eat them. just some fyi, they're pretty much bloodworms =D
