Small Saltwater Setup?

I have been keeping freshwater fish off and on since I was little. So I know some about it. Saltwater fish have always interested me because of the vivid colors and nice tank layouts around. So anyways to get to my point. I am interested in setting up a saltwater tank but at the moment I am in an apartment so I prefer not to get a big setup, I was wondering what is a good beginner tank size? I was looking something around 40g? I mean I don’t mind 55 but I hear the problem with that is it’s not deep enough. What would be a smaller tank size that is worth the cost of the gear to set it up? Are there any easier fish/ crustaceans / invertebrate to start out with?

if you can find a 50 gal, it has better dimesions (wider)than the 55gal,

u could always get a plug in play system(red sea max, nanocube,biocube,aquapod.)
