I am wondering if anyone can help me out. My Sev has this spot that just keeps getting slowly bigger. It seems like its eating away at his scales or something. It doesnt seem to have a furry texture, but it varies from smooth to slightly raised on the outside of the sore.

It started when I was treating a bad case of ich in the tank. They were treated with malachite and I think it weakened him a bit. it started off as a small white pimple of sorts. Its been a few weeks now and keeps slowly getting worse.

I tried treating for a few days with Pimafix for a few days, then Melafix for a few days when that didnt seem to work.

the water conditions have always been perfect. 0 ammonia, nitrates and nitrite. I do lots of water changes. The smaller Sevs, Damba, and Pearsei are all fine.

thanks for your help!

is there actually an erosion on the skin? If so I would do dilute betadine swabs daily or hikari biobandage

Yes, it was eroding outwardly and slightly inwardly.

I have been treating for about 5 days now with salt, and it seems to be working... so far.

For the last 3 days I haven't seen anymore of the raised while areas which I assume is dead skin. And the wound itself has become much smoother.

Day one I did 1tsp per gallon, after 24 hours I increased to 1.5tsp per gallon, the 24 hours later I increased it to 2tsp per gallon.

Temp is between 80-80.5. I have 2 AC110 on a 48x24x24 and have kept the water a little low for extra aeration.

salt works very well hand-in-hand with Stress Coat.....might want to toss that in there too
