Hi Folks,

I have a spare 14 gal tank at home, and thought I might as well set it up.

Any recommendations on what I should put in there?

An easier to photograph fish would be ideal.

A breeding pair would be cool.

Thanks for any advice.

any preference on fish types? i'll suggest a apistogramma cacatuoides (there are also other apisto's that are gorgeous). they have some beautiful variations out there if you can find them. OR, among my favorite would include eretmodus (goby cichlid).

I think 14 gallons (US or Imperial) is a little small for Eretmodus. But it would be very nice for Tanganyikan shelldwellers or most types of dwarf cichlids, including Laetacara curviceps or West Africans or Orange Chromides. Breeding should be possible for any of those.
Alternatively a community of small characins would look nice, perhaps with some Corydoras cats too. Or you could have an Asian tank with Rasboras and small Gouramis. If you want something different, you could try Goodeids which are very interesting and easy to breed.
Lots of opportunities for phtography with any of those.

shellies!!!!!!

way to gorgeous to pass up :)

Maybe Neo. multifasciatus, Neo. ocellatus or Neo. brevis or melagris (spelling may be off there)

multis IME tend to be the most docile, with ocellatus being the more aggressive.

i really like brevis also, too bad mine dissappeared from my tanganyikan tank (but no body - i think he jumped but i can't find him)

Thanks for the advice everyone.
I'm going out this weekend to source what Tanganyikan shelldwellers are available locally. They sound very cool! :-)
