I have been seeing small, maybe 1/4 to 3/8 inch long free swimming and very wiggly worms. They look like a piece of white hair that wiggles. I have seen one of the fish eat one. They seem to always be going towards the surface. Any Ideas?? They do not apear to be planaria.

planaria lots of heavy gravel vacs and water changes will get rid of them....

they are harmless to fish but tough to get rid of.... i had a spawn induced "fry food" worm outbreak..... its due to heavy nutrients in your water... cut down on your feedings and do lots of gravel vacs

If they are what midnight has shown they are white worms, a relative of microworms and Grindals, they often colonize filters and not only are harmless they made excellent food for fry and small fish.

Do a bunch of gravel vacs change the filters and a little salt should do the trick nicely.
Bin ther done that don't worry.

What fish would you guys recommend to eat the nematode worms? Wouldn't want to buy small fishes who dont eat it that much lol
