Small wounds on my rays

I noticed these wounds/marks/whatever on my rays last night, anyone have an idea what they could be?

They are on both my rays, at almost exactly the same spot. Both rays are eating fine and acting normal.

Tankmates are clown loaches, discus, arowana, bristlenoses and one sailfin pleco (gibbiceps).

Nitrates are ~30mg/l (30ppm)

I thought so - just didn't know what they looked like so I asked


Do you guys think it's just the sailfin pleco, or will I have to get rid of my bristlenoses too?

I keep a bristlenose with a motoro with no problems, but I dont know, it depends on your individual pleco I would think. I can say it is more than likely the sailfin, and I doubt its the bristlenose. When you say sailfin, which exactly do you mean? an L196?

Yup, L196 - glyptoperichtys gibbiceps

i would remove both just in case.... this way the rays can heal with no problems

I noticed the female acting kinda weird earlier today, swimming alot and doing some weird "poses", so I did a 60% water change just now. After the water change she's acting even weirder, swimming in circles and acting like her balance is off. She ate well yesterday, but I'm not sure about how much she's eaten today.

Nitrates are under 20ppm and pH is ~7.8


Can this behavior be considered normal or should I be worried?

I believe the wounds were from a pleco, yes. Check out my latest question tho, I'm worried that my female might be dying now..

Nitrates are ~15-20ppm after the water change.

The male is doing fine, and the discus in the tank are great, which should be a testament to the water quality.
