I have a proven pair of cons in a 10 gal now. They're caring for fry now, but the male will soon outgrow the tank. Are there convicts that stay small? I'm looking for a 4-5" adult male rather than a 5-6" male. I included a pic just in case anyone wants to trade. First is male second is female.

It takes years for cons to get to 5"-6" so you've got time.

Mine took about 2 years to get 5". All cons get about the same size.

Yes, that is correct but you could speed the growth like i did and raised a pink convict male to 6inches in 16months. I did that by keeping him in a 30gallon by him self, only feed him brine shrimp blackworms and pellets, and didnt breed him at all.

yup cons do grow bigger faster if not breed young and kept away from opposite sex.

op,a 20long or 29 will be good for the pair.

Well then I guess I'll have to just go get a 20l. The 10 is way over filtered as is.

Lol there no such thing as over filtering. The more turn over the better qaulity and clearer the water will be

Alright I'll correct myself. The filtration that I have on the 10 gallon tank is causing way too much flow. The fry are swept across the tank if they get caught in the current. I'm turning over the water volume like 20x an hour.

Can you defuse it? Possibly slow the current down?
