I'm hopefully moving out soon, and already dreaming of more tanks. Since I haven't bought one yet, I can be flexible... but seeing as I am probably going to be living in a tiny apartment, I don't think it wise to do a 180g, the way I want. =P

I was thinking that a 55 or 75 might be doable, though, and that's where all this comes in. I want to set up a biotope tank focused on a school of geos (I've loved them forever, and never got to keep one because of the nasty tempered cichlids in other tanks, haha). Obviously then, they need to be able to live comfortably in that size a tank. Are there any geos I could buy multiple of (or even just a pair, if that's the case) that would be able to live their whole lives out in a 55gallon? Maybe a 75g?
I've heard Tapajos red heads are suitable, maybe pindare, or biotodoma (cupids)?

I'm also considering a shoal of tetras - which of these species would be best suited for an eartheater tank? I do plan for it to be planted (false bottom with eggcrate and mineralized soil capped with the sand).
Black neon tetras, bleeding hearts, emperor tetras, rasboras, or rainbowfish (praecox)?

I used to have red heads and they were great fish. I currently have 2 cupidos and they are gorgeous fish once all there peach/orange comes in however they are skittish and hide all the time. In my other tank I have geophagus Iporangensus which are a tad smaller than the tapajos, these guys look like brasinelis(misspelled ) and are very active and always greet you when you approach the tank. All 3 will do fine in a small group in a 75.
