I posted this question over at AC with little response. So I figured I would ask here.

I'm loving this tank and would like to add some smaller fish to my tank to add to the movement in it. This would probably be a year or so down the line cause I would wait until the Bala(he's quite old) was gone before adding anything to the bioload. So anyway I was wondering what type of fish could be added that wouldn't be a quick snack for a Chocolate or a GT. Any thoughts?

PS - I was inspired by this vid. lol

Here is my current setup.
__________________
120 Gallon Freshwater
Penn Plax Cascade 1500
1 Large Bala (10")
3 Large Silver Dollars(5")
2 Large Blood Parrots(7")
1 Small Green Terror(2")
1 Bristlenose Pleco(4")
1 Small Chocolate Cichlid(3")

From looking at your profile with your current stocklist i'd say you are already pushing the limitations of a 120. I wouldn't add anything even after the Bala passes. Once all the fish you have in there reach full growth your bio-load is going to be extremely high. It will take tons of filtration to keep your current list healthy in a 120 at adult size. GoodLuck

Thanks for the info. I figured I was probably maxed out anyway. I would get rid of the bala now if I knew he was going to a good home. He's just way to skiddish for my tastes.

Also, I keep getting conflicting info on my filtration. I've been told online that I need more but then I go to my lfs(a very reputable one by the way) and they say I'm good with the Cascade and a powerhead. I know you can't have too much but do you think I will be horribly overstocked when everything is full grown and after I add another Cascade 1500? Of course I do weekly water changes too.

Are your fish showing signs of stress? Are there any ammonia or nitrate burns? Check your levels actually no one here can say what you tank will be as diet, feeding schedules,& so many other variables play a major part in each individual tank.

Nope, everyone is happy and healthy. All water params are right where they should be. I couldn't ask for better water quality.

Ditto!
As for filtration...
You should be OK even with mature fish, but I'd add a AC110 for added mech filtration, I like the canister/HOB combo.
Adding another Cascade 1500 would be premium, no such thing as over-filtered. ;)
