good day!!!

i recently bought a 4.5 - 5 inches endli from an LFS here in the Philippines and was in cloud 9 on my way home. Unfortunately, my happiness was cut short when i noiced that the left fin is smaller (about 50%) than its right fin. However, it is a hearthy eater and always rummaging for more chow.

will its left fin remain that small or is there any chance that it can somehow catch up? i am thinking of returning it but its mismatched fins doesn't even hinder it from its daily activities, plus this litter bugger swam its way to my girlfriend's heart and now her favorite.

will post pic later, thanks and happy fish keeping!!!!

Some bichirs do have that kind of abnormalities. If it's still small in about a month, then it's deformed. It probably got it's fin bitten off by it sibling when they were young as juvie endli at 2" or smaller are more of a cannibal than the grown ones.

thanks for the reply sir, anyway lessons learned and i guess i will keep it, it is now swimming in its own tank with alot of hiding nooks. justlove it when it sneeks on unsuspecting feeder fishes.i really appreciate your reply sir

welcome to the forum voldemort. I always see you in PPF.
Some fish have abnormalities such as curved spines and others but since yours is still young you will have to wait until it grows larger.

I thought the same thing lol
It could either been bitten or it could be a birth defect you just have to wait and see
