Hey all. I love cichla, I'm always browsing this section looking at all your great collections of bass. My question: is there a pbass that can stay in my 90 that I'm not using? I have it sitting in my garage and I can't let that happen for long. I was using it as a community tank till it sprung a leak and I had to take it down. I resealed it and tested it and its ready to go. I'd like to try pbass but I only want to use that tank. Is it possible?

The 90 gallon for the life of any cichla will not work. It is a safe assumption that any species of pbass will attain a size of at least 20-24". Kelberi tend to stay a little shy of that, but it's a good range to use for planning a cichla tank.

nope wont work.
We like bass cause they are big and colorful.
A 180g is a min size. That 90g will work as a growout.
But you will get hooked and you'll want to go bigger.

Use the 90 gallon to try them out. You'll be able to get a solid 6 months out of it with 2 or 3 cichla. If you like them, go bigger, if you don't, sell them. It's a win win either way.

Thanks, maybe I will. I can't justify buying another big tank at the moment. But maybe I'll get a few for the 90 and hope the old lady falls in love with them. That's my only chance for another big tank

What is your other big tank and what's in it?
These days its gotta be 300g+ to be considered big....and that is just a start.
I consider my 225g small these days...gonna have to upgrade it sooner than later.

I have a 225, 180, two 90's, a 75, and countless tanks under 40. I think 8 or 9 now. Ohh and a 4500 gal pond. Nothing real big I know but the tanks take up as much of my floor plan as my furniture. And I don't have a basement so 225 is the biggest I'm comfortable having on floor joists.
