smallest lung fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
(P. amphibius)2' gilled African lungfish (extremely rare in the hobby) also very expensive and very sensitive to water condtions, really not recomended as a first lungfish-Anne
next would be West African lungfish (P. annectens)3'
next would be spotted African lungfish (P. dolloi)4' and South American lungfish (L. paradoxa)- 4'

i have a 180 for my dolloi but they really need length and depth for them to turn around in the tank.. height is not nearly as important so u could probly get a little smaller custom one thats not tall and wide and long

ya thats exactly what i have but if u got the money for a custom tank u can even have a happier lungfish.. like instead of having it 2ft tall u can have it like 18-20icnhes and ull have another couple inches to the depth. not alot but it would stilll be better especially if you get the west african because they are super thick and need room to move around. even though the spotted or dolloi can reach another foot in length they are signifcantely thinner.

Also you will be dedicating this tank to basicly 1 fish if you go with an African lungfish
they can be very untrustworthy with tankmates-Anne

If I were you I would go for a high and deep tank with a low waterlevel. (incase of escape)
I house mine in 5 x 2,3 x 2,3 ft tanks. But I will go bigger in the near future. (6x3x2,3)
(maybe in a year of so)......but if you go for an annectens and buy it small it will be fine in a 4x2x2 for a long time.
