My new obsession, very difficult to find the max size of most mahseer species. Anyone know the smallest species? Or maybe a similar smaller fish?
Thanks,

Semah Mahseer(Tor douronensis) im guessing. im not seeing much info on these. they grow like 13-15 inches i think
Shame the semah has some of the dullest colouring of the mahseer species.

Are Hampala's behaviourally similar to mahseer? I've heard that somewhere before.

If they are, Hampala ampalong is a great choice. A nice 6 inch fish with the personality of its larger cousins.

I agree they seem To be a similar fish but I was led to believe they got around a foot in length, not 100% though.

Some other Hamapalas like H. salweenensis and H. dispar reach a footlong but H. ampalong actually reaches 6 inches long. At least mine didn't grow past that.

Hampala deserve like mahseer in activity but they’re a totally different story when feeding. They got huge mouth compare to their size and that said it all
