Smallest species?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You could try a 125G with a really good filter for a pair but it would be a species tank and to be safe a 150-180 gallon is better and you may be able to squeeze in a tankmate
100,125, and 150 usually have the same footprint, dont think adding height helps a ton. Im not a big bass guy but the ones ive kept over the years were quite large, id look for atleast a 180. Kelberi seem to grow a bit slower IME so you would have a bit of time. What are the dimensions of your 100g? 18"x18"x72"?

Yup that's about right.
Although some kelberi will need that 180g with in the first year. Becareful if you don't wanna upgrade. Cichla are addicting and you'll end up with a much bigger tank than you planned originally for the hobby. But that's not a bad thing ;)

I have seen some 150 G that are wide like 2 feet but they aren't very tall
