i am thinking if i could run a 10 or 20 gallon wet dry just for some extra bio and to hide heaters how big of a pump will i need for this?? also im kinda confused as to keeping it from running out on my floor if power goes out with a small tank it cant hold much water any thoughts or suggjestions would be aprreciated..anyone got a detailed diagram of a wet dry and diy overflow????

thanks for alllllllll the comments guys i guess im not cool enough to get an answer

I would dought a 20g tank could be effectively used as a sump for a 210g tank. This is assuming the tank has a footprint of 84"x24" or 72" x 24". As for DIY overflows have a search in the DIY forum the are quit a few.

Pump size depends on the water height (head height) and water flow you require. There seem to be lots of threads that answer this so a search is the fastest way to get answers I think.

Does it have overflows already? If it does and you're running the tank with other filters under the overflows then you can run a very small pump and be ok with a 20g.

If you are going to make overflows out of PVC then you'll have to make them at just the right height. Either way, you will probably not be able to have big enough of a pump to put your heaters in it.. That is just a guess though, since I've never used a sump that small with heaters in it.

i agree with ziggy--a 20 would make no difference..

Isnt the amount of biomedia more important than the size of the sump tank? You can have a 3ft tall tower full of biomedia tricking into a 20 tank. Your saying this wouldnt make a difference?
