Hey guys im just wondering what the optimal aquarium conditions should be for a smallmouth, i just took a test strip sample and the GH was 180, KH 240, ph was 9 (yikes), NO2 was 0 and NO3 was 80...... if someone could tell me what these should be and how to fix it that'd be awesome

i use tap water but its not chlorinated, i use water treatment and let it sit out for a day or 2 depending on how much im putting in the tank

Your water is fine except for the NO3; Prime or Amquel Plus should take care of that. Smallies like hard basic water. Also, try a liquid test kit such as the one from API. Strips are notoriously inaccurate.

you should post pics of the fish :D

i was taking pics last night but horrible time to do it, not enough light creating huge glare on the glass, the test strips i have are API 5 in 1 aquarium test strips, they measure ph, nitrate, nitrate, carbonate and general hardness

i have a Kordon water conditioning kit, NovAqua+ its water conditioning with echinacea, vitamins and anti virus protection, then AmQuel+ removes nitrate, nitrate, ammonia, chlorine and Chloramines
