Anyone keep any? I caught what I think is one earlier this week. :naughty: He's around 4-5" right now and I currently have him housed with some african chiclids. Any advice on keeping this fella?

TIA,
JP

If what you have is really a smallmouth bass, it should not be housed with anything tropical. It should be kept in a cool water tank with lots of dissolved oxygen. He will not do well in warm water and will most definitely eat your african cichlids.
Post a pic and we'll be able to identify it.

Edit: I forgot to add. You will need a large tank to house it for life.

Thanks for the reply. I caught him from a local pond here in NC (warm water). I am currently trying to aquire a used 300 gallon tank from someone online. If that doesn't pan out I will probably get a 240 for him and some tank mates. I'll try to get some pics up soon.

I'd move him to some cooler water too if it was me, and they can be very agressive...Awesome fish though!

i actually have a smallmouth right now and hes about 5-6 inches long....they love minnows and the water should be around 60-70 degrees max and they should be fine...mine is in my tank with a bullhead and a couple of white crappie right now

Cool, thanks! I got him to eat a cricket earlier this evening. You have any pics of your tank/fish?
