Id like to start a SMB tank and have no idea what possible tankmates could work out, this would be my first native tank. Also how large do they grow and growth rate? The SMB would be in a 120 until it grows out of it. Last question, how aggressive are they?

tank mates are snacks. they need cool moving well oxygenated water .easily hit 12" in a year 300g is a good tank size minimum so be ready for that upgrade rather quickly.

Bluegill and other sunfish make great tank mates. Also catfish or bullheads. Make sure the fish you choose are the same size or bigger than the bass.
