Next automation on the list will be to have one of these under each tank. Connect them to Wi-Fi then through IFTT so if the tank leaks, the alarm will sound and tell it surge protector to turn off pumps and heaters.

Awesome, didn't know something like this existed. I'm setting up a 135g with an overflow box (tempered glass, can't drill the tank) and DIY sump later this year and I've been thinking about how to set up something that'll cut power to the return pump if the tank overflows. This looks like it'll be perfect.

Sounds like a solid system! Ever considered a Raspberry Pi with Node Red? Allows you to keep an eye on all the stats online, act as timers and everything. With relays you can let it control your heaters and everything.

The automation stuff is cool, but keep in mind, the more complicated you make an aquarium system, the more things there are to go wrong ;)
Not really. The worst thing that can happen is the feeder over feeds .if the heaters break and it gets to hot a relay turns off the heaters and warns me, or if they shut off and it gets too cold. Or the lights won't turn pi/off properly. If the tank leaks an alarm goes off that then tells IFTT to turn off the pumps.
