I feel like lately that I want to get rid of my Pike. I love him and all. He's a super cool fish. But growing rapidly in a 55g just doesn't seem suitable considering he'll get to about 10" before the time I buy a new tank. So I think I may get rid of him. My question is, would it be ok to put maybe one or two firemouths in with my Tex and GT? I used to have them in my 20g long ago and have always had a love for them. And they seem to be a smaller breed, in terms of adulthood anyways, so I figure a 55g with only two other fish who are currently 4.5" and 2.5", one or two FMs may be alright. Any opinion on this?

Keeping a texas, gt, and 2 firemouths in a 55 is just as suitable as the pike........

I didn't mean it like that. He is worried about the size of the pike in the 55, when the other 4 fish is the same situation if not worse..

A Tex & a GT in a 55? I know they'er small now but what happens when they are grown? One GT in a 55 makes a great show fish. I wouldn't add anything to that tank. I would give some thought to the long term situation.

That's not what I'm asking. These fish aren't even relatively close to full grown. Before they get to that stage, I will have a bigger tank. And if not, I'll get rid of them to a home that's suitable. But I'll cross that bridge when I get there. I am asking if it would be currently suitable for this to work.

By the way, I have 3 fish in a 55. I've seen several tanks on here that have roughly 10 fish that are far too large for the tank. (A 10" BGK in a 55 with 6 other cichlids? Not over-crowded at all.)
