Recently purchased an orange King Midas from my LFS. I'm convinced he's the smartest fish in the world. If you run your fingers up and down the glass, he'll follow you. There's just one thing... He won't stop picking up multiple rocks in his mouth...He takes these rocks and dumps them in the corner. He'll pile them up until the pile reaches about 5 inches high. Although I think this is a cool thing, he's starting to become slightly discolored, and I kind of want him to stop. What should I do?

Thanks

sounds like normal behavior, he's just rearranging the tank. and losing color is normal too.

you may think its cool now, but you wont in a few months lol. my oscar likes to move things too, its a pain in the @$$ in the long run. Oscars are like the g@y house-designers of the aquarium world, their work only looks good to them

PICS

Sounds like a cool fish. My electric catfish likes to move all the rocks from one side of the tank to the other. Then after I do a water change I move them back the hes right back moving them again.

What is the difference between a normal midas and a king midas?

I dont think there is a such thing as a king midas that is what they just called it or just a name of a blood line what makes that midas different then my midas not being a jerk but correct me if I am wrong please

My Chancho does the exact same thing. Yet she's never happy with her remodeling and is at it again the very next day. And God forbid I try to use the algae scraper, or she will attempt to eat the thing whole.

Leave him be he is making the tank to his liking.
