smashed glass

I just received my 2000L/hr-UV sun sun filter in the mail. When i was setting it up i dropped the lid of the filter and smashed the glass casing of the uv light! does this mean that i have completely stuffed this brand new filter before i even got it running? is there a way to run it with out the filter with out the uv with out an electrical disaster? anyone know where i could get a replacement part? i live in australia if that helps

hey champ,

I got my sunsun with and the same problem existed as it was smashed during assembly/quality control by the factory.

what they did for me was remove the eletrical guts of the UV unit all but the physical switch on the outside of the canister (the UV lamp guts can be accessed via the small screwplated section on the underside of the canister lid/pump once you have removed the glass housing for the UV lamp) after stripping out the wiring they simply sealed up the compartment with
aquarium grade silicone and it was good to go.

im happy to report that the filter runs like a beast, no hiccups, no leaks nothing just blisteringly awesome performance from a filter that cost me $80.
