replacing your media will cause the cycle to start over. Adding to existing media will not cause a recycling of your biofilter.
Your current bioload needs more than a 20% water change once a week. 20% two to three times a week or 30-40% twice a week will keep all those growing predators happy and help in getting rid of "feeder stink".
I dont think it would recycle if you put a new pad in unless it is already crashed. I use a ton of carbon when a tank is smelly , then when its better use 1/2 the amount recomended for your size tank. good luck .I no a lot of guys dont like cardon but I never had a problem with it.
Well i found a extra carbon cartridge or w/e i only have 1 . so i shoved it into one of my filters
so i dident take any media out i just added it hopefully that will help.
I need to go to petsmart anyway so ill pick up a stocking and some carbon and shove it into my outher filter.. hope this isent gona nuke my tank and all my fish die.
p.s i have had my arowana for 2 weeks about and hes grown 1" hes so fat and healthy im in love with him or her lmao
and theres no way i can do a 20-30% twice a week my dad gets pissed when i do 20% once a week telling me my tank dosent need it blah blah blah..
I don't use carbon on tanks with fish that have enclosed gill structures. Fish like rays, lungfish, and puffers don't seem to be able to handle any carbon dust. Others seem better suited to keeping their gills clear of the dust.
Well luclky i dont have any of what u named
i got an
arowana
oscar
2 bichirs
lima
2 royal plecos
and 4 clown loaches that eat everything on the bottom of my tank constantly
if i take a media outa the water for like 2 seconds just so i can put carbon under it will that kill the micro organisms and what not?
