I have a 100 gallon in my garage (cichlids) and it has a light cover but not a full on hood. Anyways my mom recently started smoking again. She prefers to smoke in my garage cause of the weather. I find myself cleaning the outside of the tank of a film of smoke every couple days. Are the fish going to be heavily affected ? Theres a few small holes in the cover where the filter hoses air hoses and heater are placed so im afraid it may contaminate the water. Or should i chill :chillpill:

If you have an air pump going into the tank, then your fish are smoking as well. You need to tell your mom that in addition to causing cancer, emphysema, high blood pressure, etc. it also makes her smell like a gypsy and studies have statistically shown that 78% of people below the poverty line smoke. With that data it can easily be surmised that smoking makes you poor.

Ahh you can prove anything with stats. Does eating Raman Noodles make you poor?

Just ask her to crack the garage door open.

Either that or being poor drives you to smoke lol

Smoking around the fish is the worst thing she can do. Its truly animal abuse. I rescued my guppy Eric from a smoker, the poor thing had the worst smokers cough you've ever heard.

His coughing would keep the whole house up at night. I think he might have had emphysema.

Bingo , lol when I move out I just got this place. I emphasize I got it. I relocated to Sacramento I have been on my own since 17

Thanks for the advice people . I think Ill have to just do what I do for a living and install a ventilation kit out there. Couple bath fans and air intakes and it should be :chillpill: I just was not sure if nicotine affects fish.

exaust fans ftw

it will also help keep the humidity levels down in the summer when temps are high
