i know that snails will eat almost anything in your tank, but was wondering if I could feed nutritious food that would make it live longer and also have a strong shell.

Yes, most green veggies (zucchini, green beans, etc) have a good calcium concentration which will help with new shell growth. Keeping a pH well about 7 will help prevent erosion of existing shell. Keeping temps in mid 70's will also help with longevity as the higher the tank temp, faster the metabolism, shorter the life span.
